OUR AIRCRAFT

Where quiet and green meet low operating cost

The Maxwell M1

An Electric Gweduck

The M1 is an electric version of the new Carbon Fiber and Kevlar Gweduck, now a serial production version of the fiberglass composite Gweduck, itself a 5th generation remake of the famous Grumman seaplanes.  The M1 will first be sold as an experimental aircraft.

Energy and Power are two different things

One source for energy. One source for power. One practical workhorse.

Maxwell's Hybrid Direct Drive combines a small new innovative compound boost compression ignition engine using energy dense Jet A for cruise with powerful lightweight electric motors, and very little battery weight, in a direct propeller-drive architecture. The lightweight turbo diesels provide endurance from energy-dense fuel;  the lightweight electric motors provide ultra-high power for take-off and rapid climb.

Together, they deliver payload, range and operational flexibility that battery-only aircraft cannot possibly provide.  Each source doing what it does best outperforms any heat engine only system.  Piston heat engines weigh too much when pushed to the power levels desired for high payload takeoffs from unimproved runways and water.  Small turbines are inherently fuel inefficient (it’s the physics not the engineering) and made worse when operating at low altitudes.

The E-Lake

An Electric Lake Amphibian

The Lake is the most successful and proven flying boat design with more than 2,000 units built and flown over a span of decades. Now, a Lake that even your neighbors will like!

The Maxwell M2

An Electric Gweduck

The M2 is a 1,200 HP version of the M1. It will be the first Maxwell Aircraft to be certified. The slight weight addition in electric motors doubles the power and turns the M2 into a real truck for the skies—a quiet green truck with low operating costs.
